Aims:

  • to present and practice vocabulary for town events
  • to introduce/reintroduce the characters and the context of the story
  1. Warm-up: review the story: write the names Ben and Lucy on the board, elicit what they remember about the characters. Activity on SM: put the pictures in order so that it forms last year’s story.
  2. Present town event vocabulary: use the picture to present it, say each word for Ss to repeat, check understanding of “Well done”

    3. SB pg.4, ex. 1: Ss look at the words, listen and repeat in chorus, then Ss cover the list of the new words so that they cannot see them, they take turns to point to the items and say what each one is (randomly), they uncover the list of words to check
    4. SB pg.4, ex. 2: read the questions aloud with the class, Ss guess the answers to the questions, play the rec, Ss try to find the answer, we check.
    5. SB pg.4, ex. 3: play the secret word game: demonstrate the game using the examples, they give definitions and say My secret word instead of the word, they play the game into two groups.
    6. Mime game : one of the Ss comes at the front and tries to mime one the words taught. The S who find the answer gets up for the next word.
